What Makes a Tradie Look Trustworthy Online?

Before someone calls a tradie they've never used before, they're going to form a pretty quick opinion about whether that person seems trustworthy. Most of that happens online, before any contact is made. Here's what actually builds trust.

Google reviews with real names

A tradie with 40 Google reviews at 4.8 stars feels safe to call. One with no reviews at all feels like a bit of a gamble. The reviews don't need to be perfect. They just need to be there and sound like real people. A response from the business to each review, even a short one, makes a big difference too.

A professional website

A clean, functional website tells people you take your business seriously. It doesn't have to be fancy. But a site that loads properly, has your services listed, and shows photos of your work says more about your professionalism than almost anything else.

An ABN and any relevant licences

Including your ABN on your website and any trade licences relevant to your work removes a lot of doubt. It shows you're registered, legitimate, and not a bloke doing work on the side without the proper paperwork. For licensed trades like electrical and plumbing, displaying your licence number is worth doing.

Mentioning insurance

Fully insured is one of those phrases that a lot of tradies don't bother putting on their website because it seems obvious. But it matters to customers, especially for anything involving their home. Saying it clearly, rather than assuming people will just know, removes a concern before it becomes a reason not to call.

Trust is built by removing doubt. Every piece of information that answers a question someone might have is one less reason for them to hesitate.
