What Should a Tradie Website Actually Include?

If you're getting a website built, or thinking about it, you might be wondering what actually needs to go on it. The answer is simpler than most people expect. Here's what makes a tradie website actually useful.
Your name, trade, and suburb right at the top
Within about three seconds of landing on your page, someone should know who you are, what you do, and where you work. That's it. If they have to hunt around for that information, a lot of them won't bother.
A phone number that's easy to find
Put your number at the top of the page and make it clickable on mobile. Most people searching for a tradie are on their phone. One tap to call you is the goal. If they have to go looking for your number, some of them are going to give up and call someone else.
A list of your services
Don't assume people know everything your trade covers. A plumber might do hot water systems, blocked drains, bathroom renovations, and gas fitting. A lot of customers don't know that. List it all out and you'll get calls for work you didn't realise you were missing.
Photos of your actual work
This one is worth saying again because it makes such a difference. Real photos of real jobs. Before and after shots are brilliant. Even decent phone photos are better than stock images of a generic tradie that could be anyone.
A short about section
How long have you been doing this? Are you a local? Do you do the work yourself or manage a team? A few sentences about who you are builds trust. People like knowing they're dealing with a real person, not a faceless business.
A contact form
Some people don't want to call. They'd rather fire off a message and wait for a reply. A simple form with name, phone, and what they need is all you require. Keep it short and you'll get more people filling it in.
That's the whole list. Everything else is optional. Get those things right first.
